THE BEGINNING
A.B May was founded by Aleda and Bill Posladek, who purchased May Furnace Company in 1959. They renamed it A.B. May (“A” for Aleda and “B” for Bill) and set out with four trucks and a few employees to offer Kansas City exceptional home service. The first ten years saw many changes. We started in a modest building in the Ivanhoe neighborhood, quickly grew into a former Waldo Post Office building, and eventually built our headquarters in Leawood near I-435 and State Line, where we operated for 42 years.
INTRODUCING HOME WARRANTIES
As we grew, our services changed, too. We have expanded to offer Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Electrical, and Appliance repair services. In the mid-1970s, we pioneered one of the first homeowner warranties in the industry. Today, we help tens of thousands of Kansas City homeowners with a plan for home repairs through our Home Warranties and Gold, Silver, and Bronze Service Plans.
READY FOR THE FUTURE
In the 60 years since A.B. May was founded, we have grown to employ more than 275 people. In 2014, we moved once again to an award-winning space off of I-435 near the Sports Complex. Our new building, more than six times larger than our previous headquarters, is much better suited to serving the needs of our co-workers and our customers.
Naturally, our family has grown over the years as well. Three generations of Posladeks have now worked together to earn trust from thousands of homeowners across the KC metro.
